Notifications
Notifications keep you up to date on what is happening across your workspace without you having to go looking. A bell in QELM collects the things you need to know about, and the mobile apps can push the important ones straight to your phone. This guide covers the notification bell, marking things read, choosing which notifications you get, and mobile push.
The notification bell
Section titled “The notification bell”The bell is your notification center. It gathers your notifications with the newest at the top, and it carries a small unread badge showing how many you have not looked at yet. Open it to read what came in.
Each notification has a short title and a line of detail, and some carry a button that takes you straight to what the notification is about (the job, the invoice, or whatever raised it). Notifications are shown in your own language.
Marking notifications read
Section titled “Marking notifications read”Reading a notification marks it read and the unread badge comes down to match. The bell keeps your notifications after you have read them, so the badge is about what is new, not about clearing the list. Marking read never deletes anything.
Choosing which notifications you get
Section titled “Choosing which notifications you get”Your notification preferences are your own: they follow you, not the whole workspace. Set them at Settings, then Notifications. You can turn categories on or off:
- Announcements — workspace-wide notices.
- Jobs — updates on the jobs you are involved in.
- Invoices — updates on billing and payments.
A master push switch controls whether the mobile apps push to your phone at all, sitting above the categories.
Two things are always on and cannot be switched off: the in-app bell itself, and account and security notices. Those matter too much to miss, so QELM always delivers them.
Push notifications on your phone
Section titled “Push notifications on your phone”The QELM mobile apps can send push notifications to your phone, so an important update reaches you even when the app is closed. The phone registers itself for push when you sign in, and the master push switch plus your category choices above decide what actually comes through. Turn master push off and your phone goes quiet while the bell inside QELM keeps collecting everything as normal.
A note on what you see
Section titled “A note on what you see”The bell shows only your own notifications inside your own workspace: you never see another person’s, and never another workspace’s. Your preferences are yours alone, so turning a category off changes what reaches you without affecting anyone else. For the mobile apps themselves, see the Mobile app guide.
